Our highly-rated team is ready to help answer questions you might have about Bitcoin and Ether. We don't provide any investment advice.
Unlike online cryptocurrency exchanges, you won't need to upload your ID on a website, provide bank account details, set up a virtual wallet, or search for answers on your own.
No account creation, linking payment details, uploading your ID on a website, or any other setup steps are needed. You can have crypto in your hand in less than 10 minutes when you buy at a CXI branch location.
When you purchase cryptocurrency at a CXI branch, you will receive it on a Cycle card. This secure hardware is your crypto wallet and allows you to pay merchants accepting Bitcoin or Ether. With an NFC-enabled phone and the Cycle App, you can verify your balance and extract your assets if you want to move them to another wallet. Treat your Cycle card like cash. If the card is lost or destroyed, access to your funds is gone.
Cycle cards are considered cold wallet, which means they are not attached to anything online. This provides a unique level of self-custody. Each Cycle card has an embedded chip that creates and holds your unique and uncopyable key for the most secure way to hold your cryptocurrency.
Learn more about the Cycle card and app in our FAQs. The Cycle app is available on:
Bitcoin (₿) is a cryptocurrency invented in 2008 by an unknown person or group of people using the name Satoshi Nakamoto and started in 2009 when its implementation was released as open-source software.
It is a decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single administrator that can be sent from user to user on the peer-to-peer bitcoin network without the need for intermediaries. Transactions are verified by network nodes through cryptography and recorded in a public distributed ledger called a blockchain. Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. Research produced by the University of Cambridge estimates that in 2017, there were 2.9 to 5.8 million unique users using a cryptocurrency wallet, most of them using bitcoin.
Ethereum was initially described in a white paper by Vitalik Buterin, a programmer and co-founder of Bitcoin Magazine, in late 2013 with a goal of building decentralized applications. Buterin had argued that Bitcoin needed a scripting language for application development. Failing to gain agreement, he proposed the development of a new platform with a more general scripting language.
Ethereum is the second-largest cryptocurrency platform by market capitalization, behind Bitcoin. It is a decentralized open-source blockchain featuring smart contract functionality. Ether (ETH) is the cryptocurrency generated by Ethereum miners as a reward for computations performed to secure and add blocks to the blockchain. Ethereum serves as the platform for over 1,900 different cryptocurrencies and tokens, including 47 of the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
CXI led the brain trust of three companies to design an easier and faster way to safely access cryptocurrency in person.
CXI’s cryptocurrency services are provided by CEX.IO Corp., a regulated cryptocurrency exchange. The CEX.IO group started in 2013 and has served more than 3 million customers worldwide with zero customer’s funds lost.
Cyclebit allows for the simple issuance of cryptocurrency on a Cycle card through a point-of-sale terminal and ensures the collection of KYC data. Cyclebit processes a million transactions a month with all data encrypted to PCI DSS standards.
When you purchase Bitcoin and Ether at our branch, you will receive the cryptocurrency on a Cycle card, which we provide. We charge a $5 loading fee for all cryptocurrency purchases. Cycle cards retail up to $19.99 when purchased directly from their online shop.
We use real-time market rates provided by the CEX.IO digital exchange. CEX.IO calculates the price and freezes it for a short period of time in order to lock in your price during a transaction. The service exchange rate is adjusted to mitigate the risks connected with price fluctuations. The final exchange rate may differ from other digital exchanges.
When comparing other services to ours, you should factor in all fees that may not be included in the exchange rate (purchasing fees, wire transfer fees, and time).
Just like currency exchange transactions, "Know Your Customer" (KYC) regulations (mandated by federal and state law) requires all cryptocurrency providers to collect certain information. For transactions up to $1,000, we must collect your name and details from either a valid US driver's license or a passport.
Minimum transaction amount: $50
Maximum transaction amount: $1,000

Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies that use cryptography for security. Bitcoin and Ether, two types of cryptocurrencies, aren’t issued and maintained by any central authority or government. Instead, they’re facilitated on a public database called a Blockchain. Records on a Blockchain are validated and encrypted for every account and transaction made. Similar to gas prices, Bitcoin and Ether can change a lot over time as supply and demand go up and down.
We currently offer Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).
Cycle cards let you hold a cryptocurrency on a highly secure "cold storage wallet" hardware. A cold wallet means it's a hardware device holding your digital asset offline. This is considered the most secure way to store cryptocurrency as the only way to access your private key is directly from the card.
With this, the Cycle card lets you maintain full control of your cryptocurrency. The card features an embedded chip that creates and holds your unique, uncopyable key within the card itself. Cycle guarantees the card will never disclose your private key.
Each Cycle card can hold only one digital asset (ie Bitcoin or Ether). They are reusable and extremely durable. See Cycle's FAQs for more details about the card.
A Cycle card is like a "bearer instrument", if you hold it, you own it. Treat it like cash. You can use the Cycle card to pay merchants that accept Bitcoin or Ether, transfer your digital asset to others, or use it with the Cycle app to view your balance and extract the assets to a digital wallet.
