Currency Exchange International Announces Financial Results for the Three and Six Month Periods Ended April 30, 2015

Toronto, Canada – Currency Exchange International, Corp. (the “Company”) (TSX:CXI; OTCBB:CURN), is pleased to announce its financial results and present the management's discussion and analysis ("MD&A") for the three and six month  periods  ended  April  30, 2015 (all figures are in U.S. dollars except where otherwise indicated). Financial Highlights for the Three Month Period Ended April 30, 2015 Compared to the Three Month Period Ended April 30, 2014:

  • The Company secured additional financing by the completion of a bought deal private placement offering by issuing 540,000 common shares at a price of $21.06 (Cdn$26.75) for aggregate gross proceeds of $11,371,104 (Cdn$14,445,000). The Company will utilize the proceeds to expand business opportunities in Canada and the United States; and
  • Net operating income increased 20% to $1.3 million for the three month period ended April 30, 2015 from $1.1 million for three month period ended April 30, 2014;
  • Revenues increased 18% to $5.3 million for the three month period ended April 30, 2015  from $4.5 million for the three month period ended April 30, 2014;
  • Net income increased to $0.7 million for the three month period ended April 30, 2015 from $0.5 million for the three month period ended April 30, 2014. The increase in net income was  primarily due to a $0.2 million increase in net operating income;
  • Since April 30, 2014, the Company has added 52 new client relationships representing over 3,600 locations.

The Company’s revenue has grown due to the addition of new branch locations and over 3,600 transacting locations since April 30, 2014. Certain expenses, including salaries  and benefits, rent, and postage and shipping were higher during the period to support the expansion and revenue growth detailed above.

 

Financial Highlights for the Six Month Period Ended April 30, 2015 Compared to the Six Month Period Ended April 30, 2014:

  • The Company secured additional financing by the completion of a bought deal private placement offering by issuing 540,000 common shares at a price of $21.06 (Cdn$26.75) for aggregate gross proceeds of $11,371,104 (Cdn$14,445,000). The Company will utilize the proceeds to expand business opportunities in Canada and the United States; and
  • Net operating income increased 24% to $2.6 million for the six month period ended April 30, 2015 from $2.1 million for six month period ended April 30, 2014;
  • Revenues increased 22% to $10.5 million for the  six  month period  ended  April 30, 2015 from $8.6 million for the six month period ended April 30, 2014;
  • Net income increased to $1.0 million for the six month period ended April 30, 2015 from $0.9 million for the six month period ended April 30, 2014. The increase in net income was primarily due to an increase in net operating income of $0.5 million offset by an increase in depreciation and amortization of $0.4 million; and
  • Since April 30, 2014, the Company has added 52 new client relationships representing over 3,600 locations.

Seasonality is reflected in the timing of when foreign currencies are in greater or lower demand. In a normal operating year there is seasonality to the Company's operations with higher revenues generated from March until September and lower revenues from October to February. This coincides with peak tourism seasons in North America when there are generally more travelers entering and leaving the United States and Canada.
